CADILLAC RANCH

Cadillac Ranch is a collaborative work of art located in Amarillo, Texas, on the route of the old Route 66. It was created in 1974 by Chip Lord, Hudson Marquez and Doug Michels, all three members of the group of architects Ant Farm. It consists of 10 Cadillacs in a line, half buried in the ground. Everyone can paint at will, hence the name 'collaborative work of art'.

This demonstration is a virtual version of Cadillac Ranch: it shows 10 Cadillacs buried in the ground, and you can paint them and walk around them. The changes you make are saved to the Cadillacs, and successive compression of the textures in JPG format causes a progressive aging of the oldest paintings.

Use the arrow keys and the mouse wheel to navigate in the scene and move your cursor to paint while holding down the left mouse button. To change the camera angle, you can move the cursor while holding down the right mouse button.
